Job Description:

Role Overview & Purpose: The Patient Services Representative works to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare by providing excellent patient-centered customer service within a dynamic team environment.

To achieve these ends the Patient Services Representative provides excellent customer service, working in conjunction with clinic staff, by supporting patients’ administrative needs while demonstrating and living the company values: Compassion, Above & Beyond, Generosity, Integrity, Teamwork.

The Patient Services Representative’s job responsibilities and performance expectations generally fall into the following three categories Patient Care Services, Team Support and Clinic Administrative Tasks.



Patient Care Services


The Patient Services Representative provides excellent customer service, ensuring that patients are informed and well cared for at Neighborhood Healthcare. Example duties include but aren’t limited to:
*Demonstrate premier customer service while assisting patients in a fast paced environment: assess, appropriately manage and respond to patient needs in an expeditious and courteous manner.
*Review insurance eligibility and educate patients on available programs offered through Neighborhood Healthcare.
*Accurately schedule and confirm patient appointments according to established guidelines and reschedule as necessary.
*Assess patient financial responsibility and collect payment at time of service.

Team Support

The Patient Services Representative supports the team by operating as the liaison between the front and back office. Example duties include, but aren’t limited to:
*Monitor Provider schedules for openings to ensure maximum utilization of all available appointments.
*Update patient chart in electronic health records upon arrival for appointment.
*Work in collaboration with clinic staff to identify and resolve patient issues or concerns.


Clinic Administrative Tasks

The Patient Services Representative is responsible for the set up of patient records and the maintenance of accurate billing information. Example duties include, but aren’t limited to:
*Verify insurance eligibility, update insurance and/or identify and enroll patient in appropriate programs as needed.
*Process high volume data entry including scanning, copying/faxing, filing, electronic communications and verifying information in electronic health records.
*Collect all documentation required for complete and accurate patient records.


Experience and Skills:


Minimum Qualifications

* KNOWLEDGE: General computer skills including electronic
communications and multi line phone navigation. Familiar with medical
* SKILLS: Excellent customer service and communication skills. Bilingual
English/Arabic or English/Spanish is required
* ABILITY TO: Work effectively in a fast paced team environment. Flexible
with changing priorities while maintaining attention to detail. Use
emotional and cultural intelligence to provide appropriate

Education & Experience

* High School Diploma/GED and one year customer service preferred
Health Care setting experience preferred. Insurance eligibility experience
preferred. Electronic health records experience preferred.
