Job Description:

Role Overview & Purpose: The Medical Assistant works to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare by providing excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment.
To achieve these ends the Medical Assistant supports Providers and ensures efficient patient-centered care by demonstrating and living the company values: Compassion, Above & Beyond, Generosity, Integrity, Teamwork.
The Medical Assistant’s job responsibilities and performance expectations generally fall into the following three categories: Direct Patient Care, Provider & Team Support and Clinical Administration.

Performance Areas

Direct Patient Care

The Medical Assistant communicates with patients and performs clinical services to ensure high quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Example duties include, but aren’t limited to:

*Takes patient vital signs and obtains patient intake information.
*Performs clinical procedures such as blood draws, vaccines, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, or EKGs.
*Effectively communicates with patient to determine their needs and provides education and resources.
*Ensures exam rooms are stocked, cleaned and set up for examinations and procedures.

Provider & Team Support

The Medical Assistant anticipates the needs of the Provider and proactively solves problems to support the team. Example duties include, but aren’t limited to:
*Coordinates Provider’s workflow to ensure efficient patient care.
*Ensures Provider has all pertinent information required for each patient visit including diagnostic images, labs and required screenings.
*Assists other Providers and Care Teams in departments such as women’s health, pediatrics and general medicine.

Clinical Administration

The Medical Assistant provides timely patient communication and clinical documentation. Example duties include, but aren’t limited to:
*Utilizes electronic health records to order, process and document clinical treatment plans for patient as directed by the Provider.
*Conveys information to patient via telephone or email under the direction of a Provider or Registered Nurse.
*Provides patient with requested documents after review to ensure forms are complete, accurate and executed by the Provider.

Experience and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications

*KNOWLEDGE: Familiar with medical procedures and terminology. Proficient in an electronic health records system experience preferred. Experience in performing clinical procedures i.e ear lavage, nebulizer set up , venipuncture in both peds and adults. Ability and interest to cross train in multi-specialty practice. General Diabetic Knowledge.
*SKILLS: Intermediate computer and data entry skills. Use sound judgment to anticipate needs.
*ABILITY TO: Be flexible with changing priorities and multiple time sensitive deadlines. Use emotional and cultural intelligence to provide appropriate communication and patient care. Exemplify compassion to patients and team members. Ability to provide excellent care to diverse patient population. Ability to administer vaccines/ injections in both children and adults. Ability to work with dynamic team in a fast pace work environment.

Education & Experience

*High School Diploma or GED
*MA certificate from an accredited program
*Current BLS certification (CPR) required
*Six months Medical Assistant experience preferred.
*Bilingual English/Spanish required
