Job Description:

Summary: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Physician Assistant primarily provides evaluation and medication management services.
This position full time position (40 hours a week)

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnostic assessment, medication management, psycho-education, and follow-up, under the direction and supervision of Psychiatrist.
  2. Prescribes or recommends drug medications or other forms of treatment such as psychotherapy or medication-assisted treatment. 
  3. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and asses patient’s clinical problems and health care needs.
  4. Provide personal information to and participate in the credentialing process with managed care companies.
  5. Participate in case conferences, departmental or agency meetings as required by supervisor.
  1. Functions at highest level according to credentials and competency.
  2. Positively impacts patient experience by demonstrating values of Transforming Care including, but not limited to, courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy.
  3. Shares accountability for overall patient health outcomes, working in coordination with Care Teams, and working well with others.
  4. Operates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholders.

Experience and Skills:


Skills:  Experience with Psychiatric medication management required. Ability to provide care for patients with acute/chronic psychiatric conditions and furnish medications including controlled substances II-V required. Spanish speaking preferred.  Ability to work well with other team members. Good written and oral communication skills. Legible handwriting and minimal computer literacy, but familiarity with one or more word processing, spreadsheet or electronic medical records systems. Excellent customer service skills.

Education: Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) (Board Certified). Current CA NP & RN license required for NP or current CA PA license required. DEA license and CPR certification required. Completion of advanced pharmacology course, including II controlled substances required. 

Experience: The minimum training hours required to graduate from an approved psychiatry residency.
