Job Description:

Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Community Relations, the Outreach & Certified Enrollment Counselor (CEC) will conduct outreach and in-reach, educate and assist clients enrolling in affordable health insurance coverage through Covered CA, Medi-Cal, or the Children’s Health Insurance Program. Specifically, this position will work alongside Interfaith Community Services providing enrollment assistance to the homeless population in the surrounding community. This position requires one to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and empathy when working with the homeless population while guiding our homeless population through the eligibility process. The Outreach & CEC will also assist clients enrolling in Cal Fresh, understand and comply with monthly and yearly end goals and objectives in the grant contract and maintain complete data for monthly reporting. Additional responsibilities include supporting our efforts of patient retention and the elimination of patient attrition.

Experience and Skills:

Skills: Bilingual (English/Spanish) required; Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills; Organizational skills and careful attention to detail; Computer literate - familiar with Windows software applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook); Must be a self-starter and possess initiative and ability to work both independently and as part of a team; Strong verbal skills Accurate record keeping; Knowledge of health care and social service resources in the community preferred. One year of general clerical and customer service experience

Education: High school diploma/ GED.

Experience: Previous experience in government program eligibility and screening (CEC/Medi-Cal) or Medi-Cal for families a plus. CAA for Healthy Families/ Medi-Cal and/or 1-year experience in community programs preferred. Certified Enrollment Counselor experience a plus.

Other: Must have reliable transportation California Driver’s License/Proof of car insurance. Flexibility to work irregular hours, weekends and evenings.
